In 2003, when my friends and I walked from Budeşti to a sheepfold high above the village, we passed this cabin whose owner was making greble (hay rakes). They were made of hazel wood and were beautifully light and well balanced. We bought several and I took them back home in my car along with a fork (furca) purchased from our pensiune. The man who made the rakes had constructed an ingenious lock for his gate, also out of hazel. Early the following spring I heard that he had died, unable to survive the harsh winter on his own.
